Axial SCX24 Base Camp 4WD RC Rock Crawler RTR Overview

Unlike other low-cost micro RC crawlers, the fully equipped, ready-to-run Axial SCX24 Base Camp doesn't cut the price by compromising performance. Instead, it packs plenty of trail-proven engineering into its 1/24 scale size, including a steel chassis and ball bearings — plus a Spektrum radio, charger, and LiPo battery for reliable power and precise control. And it's still the best value available in a micro rock crawler!

That makes the SCX24 Base Camp a great starting point for RC newcomers who need an affordable first vehicle. But it's also much more than that. Are you an experienced RC driver who'd like to give crawling a try without breaking the bank? Here's your rig. Need a solid but economical platform that you can build up into your “dream” micro rock crawler? This is it. Axial offers a ton of upgrade parts that you can add to raise performance to whatever heights you want to reach.

The Axial SCX24 Base Camp is equally at home maneuvering over challenging indoor obstacles and scenic outdoor trails. It's ready to take on any terrain that other Axial SCX24 micro rigs can, whether you're crawling across your desk, through the living room, or over a backyard trail built from a few holes, rocks, and twigs. With the SCX24 Base Camp, almost any location can become the scene for a rock crawling adventure. With water-resistant electronics, the SCX24 platform is ready for adventure indoors or out.

Full-time 4WD and a 3-link front/4-link rear suspension let you confidently muscle this micro crawler over rough, risk-filled trails. Worm gears on the axles increase the ground clearance. Realistic steel frame rails on the C-channel chassis stand up to hard knocks. The proven SCX24 suspension tackles bumps, rocks, and stays stable over tough terrain. Topping it all off is a durable, factory-finished body with contemporary truck styling.

One of the most successful micro platforms of all time, the Axial SCX24 is also one of the best values in the RC crawling hobby. Inside the box, along with the assembled and finished rig, you'll find a Spektrum SLT2 2.4GHz transmitter, 350mAh LiPo battery, and handy USB charger. Even the AA transmitter batteries are included. For big adventures in micro RC crawling — at a small price — come to the SCX24 Base Camp!

It’s cool and all, looks great, runs decent. But mine had a slight wheel alignment issue out the gate. Took some tweaking. Could be a fluke, but worth mentioning.

If this thing were any more capable, I’d need a permit. It’s small enough to fit in a backpack but tough enough to conquer my entire backyard. Waterproof enough for puddles, lights that actually work, and a design that makes people do double-takes. Best impulse buy since hot sauce subscriptions.

My son got this for his birthday and we’re both hooked! It climbs, turns sharply, and doesn’t quit on rocky paths. We’ve taken it to the park almost every weekend. Durable, fun, and looks awesome in blue. Perfect size for indoor and outdoor play. Charges quickly too—keeps the excitement going longer.

I’m not even a hardcore RC person, but this thing won me over. It’s like a mini monster truck with attitude. Drives smooth, turns sharp, and that blue finish? Absolute vibe. Best impulse buy ever.

Super fun little crawler! Realistic design, strong motor, and it handles obstacles like a champ. Only downside is charging takes forever if you forget and let it die completely. Otherwise, it’s joy on four tiny wheels.

I call this thing the 'Mini Monster.' It goes where logic says it shouldn’t. Up steep rocks, down gutters, across lawns—it doesn’t quit. Looks so real with those tires and cage. My neighbors think I have a tiny rescue vehicle on standby.

Solid build and looks fire outta the box. Took it over some rough terrain and it held up well. Only knocked off a point 'cause the battery life’s a bit short. Still, super fun.

    Jak*******ds V

Impressive little crawler—handles well on uneven ground and the steering is responsive. Only wish the instruction manual was clearer. Took some trial and error, but once set up, it performs great. Solid build quality for the price.

Cute little rig and super detailed, but mine arrived with a loose wheel. Fixed it myself, no biggie, but not ideal. Drives well once tuned up. Great for display or light play, just don’t drop it from your second-story window like I did…

As someone who’s been into crawlers for years, this micro rig impresses me. Realistic design, tight clearance, and killer articulation. Feels premium, not toy-like. Axial nailed it again. Can’t wait to mod it.
